March was a month of covering many miles. It saw us journey from Thailand to the UK. From the UK to Qatar. And back home again. Phew! It’s been quite a ride.
Our time in Thailand came to end, we’ve mostly escaped the winter, something we are so grateful for. We spent a lot of time working on projects but in between got to enjoy Bangkok.
In our final weeks we made it Chatuchak Market quite a few times. It is such a colossal market and the shopping opportunities are immense. On one occasion we spotted a lady selling bags of Miang Kham, an unusual Thai snack (more details here) that we love.
On our final weekend in Bangkok we were feeling a little frazzled. We then realised we were failing to make time for relaxation. So we popped down to the nearby Vie Hotel to spend a few hours at their rooftop pool and enjoying a sneaky 2-4-1 margarita at sunset happy hour.
For our final day in Thailand our wonderful Thai friends took us on an outing to Ayutthaya where we tried the giant freshwater prawns, visited beautiful temples, and took the chance to pray, paying our respects to Buddha. It was a perfect way to end our trip (check out the video here).
The journey from Bangkok to Birmingham was pretty gruelling; with the length of journey, checking in 3 hours early and getting back home, I think we were awake for a full 24 hours. Add the dreaded jetlag and we were feeling pretty spacey that first week back. We did however managed to catch a bit of the solar eclipse. It was … erm … cloudy, bit of an anti-climax, but we still managed to capture more than the Londoners caught in full cloud cover.
Of course, getting to see all the family pets when we got back was a major bonus, especially this handsome fella above.
Five days later we were back on plane heading East again to spend three nights in Qatar. I had won a selfie competition last year and this was our prize, hoorah! We had three nights in three different luxury hotels – it was wonderful.
We ate epic breakfasts.
And sunbathed by the pool.
All in all, a pretty rad way to round up the month.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Qatar vlogs on our Youtube channel. We share more here on the blog. And of course, we’ll take you along on our UK explorations this month over on Instagram.
Happy Springtime everyone!
